Lower back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical help, affecting nearly everyone at some point. Whether it's a dull ache or a sharp, debilitating pain, understanding what's happening in your lower back can help you better manage and treat the discomfort. In this post, we'll break down the basics of lower back anatomy and explain how Mobile Wellness Care’s mobile chiropractors can effectively address and relieve this type of pain.
Your lower back, or lumbar region, is a complex structure of bones, muscles, nerves, and connective tissues. This area is responsible for bearing the weight of your upper body and providing flexibility and movement. Here’s a simple breakdown of the key components involved:
Vertebrae: The lumbar spine consists of five vertebrae (L1-L5) that are stacked on top of each other. These bones provide structural support and protect the spinal cord.
Intervertebral Discs: Between each vertebra is a disc that acts as a cushion. These discs are made of a soft, gel-like center surrounded by a tougher outer layer. They help absorb shock and allow for flexibility.
Muscles and Ligaments: The muscles surrounding your lower back help with movement and provide stability. Ligaments are tough, fibrous tissues that connect the vertebrae and maintain alignment.
Nerves: Nerves run through the spinal cord and branch out to the rest of your body. The sciatic nerve, the longest in the body, passes through the lumbar region and down each leg, which is why lower back pain can sometimes cause leg pain.
When something goes wrong in any of these areas, it can lead to lower back pain. Common causes include muscle strains, herniated discs, arthritis, and poor posture. Understanding the root cause of your pain is crucial to finding effective treatment.
Mobile Wellness Care offers a convenient solution for treating lower back pain through mobile chiropractic services. Our licensed chiropractors come to you, providing professional care in the comfort of your own home or workplace. Here’s how our mobile chiropractors can help alleviate lower back pain:
1. Spinal Adjustments: One of the most common chiropractic treatments is spinal manipulation, where the chiropractor uses their hands to apply controlled force to your spine. This helps realign the vertebrae, reduce nerve irritation, and improve mobility, which can significantly reduce pain.
2. Soft Tissue Therapy: In addition to spinal adjustments, our chiropractors may use soft tissue techniques to relax tight muscles and improve blood flow. This can help relieve pain caused by muscle strains or tension.
3. Posture Correction: Poor posture is a leading cause of lower back pain. Our chiropractors assess your posture and provide exercises and advice to correct any imbalances, helping to prevent future pain.
4. Personalized Treatment Plans: Every patient is unique, and so is their back pain. Our chiropractors create customized treatment plans tailored to your specific needs, ensuring the most effective care possible.
5. Convenience and Comfort: By bringing the treatment to you, our mobile chiropractors eliminate the need for travel, making it easier to fit chiropractic care into your busy schedule. This is particularly beneficial if your pain makes it difficult to move or drive.

Many patients feel a lot better almost immediately after their adjustments. Especially if their bodies have spent years in misalignment, the relief will be highly noticeable and amazing. While patients’ responses do vary, most feel more relaxed and flexible after their mobile chiropractic adjustment. Other people report feeling powerful energy surging through their body because their nerves are working properly for the first time in years. Some feel a bit tired as their bodies want to heal and go to sleep to do so. It’s important to note that the relief you feel may not be permanent. In more severe cases, you may need to come back for several treatments before the spine is fully restored to proper alignment.
In some cases patients feel crooked or a bit off, since they are now aligned for the first time in a long time, and their bodies have gotten used to the incorrect postures. In addition, people may feel a slight amount of soreness or aching feelings in the spinal joints. Soreness around the subluxation is normal because it’s the area where muscles have been pulling for a long time, so moving them any differently will cause some discomfort. Retracing is another common effect after an adjustment. People may revisit the discomfort of an old injury as their body is trying to heal. This is rarely a problem, but is an indication of deep healing. This usually happens within a few hours of the treatment, and doesn’t last longer than 24 hours. A mild analgesic can relieve these pain symptoms.
Sometimes patients don’t feel any differently after their first adjustment, which is also completely normal. This doesn’t mean that the adjustment didn’t work or that nothing has changed. The normal energy flow is newly restored in your body and it may take a few days before you notice a real outward effect. This shouldn’t discourage you from receiving chiropractic care! In most cases, your body won’t be completely healed after just one adjustment. Dr. Huston will guide you in the process every step of the way and let you know how you’re body is responding to the treatments as you go along. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Keep an open communication with Dr. Huston so that you can effectively get the results that you want out of your adjustments.
Now that you know what to expect, your first chiropractic adjustment will be a breeze! Make an appointment with In Home Mobile Chiropractic today to have your first adjustment and get ‘back’ to feeling healthy and pain-free.
